WHAT IS FPHRA?

The Florida Public Human Resources Association, Inc. (FPHRA) is a professional organization with the objective of forming closer relationships among the various public personnel agencies within the State of Florida. FPHRA Members have the opportunity to interact with others in the profession for the purpose of sharing information. They receive a newsletter or emails with up-to-date information on what is happening in the field, notices of regional training seminars and webinars, and are provided an opportunity to attend a yearly training conference. The FPHRA website is provided at no charge to members as a valuable information resource. FPHRA also provides access to Florida’s largest public-sector salary and benefits surveys for its members.

The Executive Board consists of a President, President Elect, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Pre-Conference Director, and Immediate Past President.  WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR MEMBERSHIP?

Membership is open to individuals who are actively engaged in some phase of governmental human resources management and representing management in the State of Florida.  There are categories for agency, individual, associate, student, and retiree members.

 WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BELONGING TO FPHRA?

They receive a newsletter or monthly e-news with up-to-date information on what is happening in the field, notices of regional training seminars and webinars, and are provided an opportunity to attend a yearly training conference.  WHEN ARE MEETINGS HELD?

The state is divided into 9 regions. Regional Coordinators are assigned to each region and are responsible for planning and coordinating seminars throughout the year. The annual conference is usually held in July or August.

 HOW MANY MEMBERS ARE CURRENTLY IN THE ORGANIZATION?

There are currently approximately 660 members. The board has made increasing membership one of its goals.

WHAT TYPES OF AGENCIES ARE INVOLVED?

Members come from a variety of city and county government agencies. These agencies include sheriffs' departments, airport authorities, authorities such as water/fire management districts, clerk of courts, tax collectors, property appraisers, etc.

 WHAT IMPACT DOES THIS ORGANIZATION HAVE ON PERSONNEL/HUMAN RESOURCES ISSUES IN THE STATE?

Because of the network developed among members, we are able to share information in a timely manner so that appropriate legislators can be contacted. This provides the organization the ability to influence legislation which affects our operations. FPHRA has a legislative liaison in Tallahassee to inform members of late breaking activities of concern to our membership.
